LAHDC committed to augment sports infrastructure: CEO

The LAHDC Leh is committed to create sports infrastructure at block level to provide physical development opportunities to the children of rural areas. This will also help to exploit hidden talent of the students in different fields.
This was stated by the Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Mr. Chhering Dorje while speaking at the concluding function of Inter School Tournament of Kharu block at Kharu today.
As many as 150 students of 7 Middle Schools and 3 High Schools of Kharu block participated in the tournament in various events like Volley ball, hand ball, Kho-Kho, long distance race, 100 and 200 meters race, shout pot, descus throw etc.
On the final day of the tournament, Hand ball between High School Gia and High School Igoo was played which was won by the High School Gia.
The Executive Councilor, CA & PDS, Mr. Stanzin Delex, Councilor, Martselang, Mr. Tsering Wangdus, Councilor Sakti Mr. Gyal Wangyal, Councilor Igoo Mr. Tsering Paldan, Dy. Chief Education Officer, Mr. Abdul Rahoof, District Youth Services and Sports Officers, Mr. Fida Hussain Khan, BDO, Kharu, Mr. Ashraf Dijoo were among those who attended the concluding function.
Chhering Dorje said that LAHDC has approached Army to create sports infrastructure at block level and the Army has agreed to create Ice Hockey Ring at block Headquarters under Sadbhavana programme and Kharu will have the Ring at first phase.
He appreciated the Youth and Sports Department for holding the tournament in a organized way and said that the performance of the school children in this tournament has seen tremendous improvement comparatively.
The District youth and Sports Officer Mr. Fida Hussain Khan also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the objective of the tournament.
Later, the CEC gave away trophies and Medals to the position holder teams and individual students for their excellence.
