Prasad visits Baramulla, says internet to be restored in phased manner in Kashmir
1/23/2020 7:48:36 PM
BARAMULLA: Assuring that internet services will be restored in phased manner in Kashmir, Union Minister for Communications Ravi Shankar Prasad on Thursday said that the ministers visiting J&K have been instructed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strive for the development of the Union Territory.

The Union Minister, who arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday, visited this north Kashmir border district today and inaugurated a Sports Stadium, besides interacting with various delegations.

”Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi told all the ministers to visit J&K and strive for development there. It was in Srinagar yesterday where I inaugurated All Women Post office, incubation facility at Srinagar Technology Parks of India and laid foundation stones of two hostels,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the inaugural function here.

Mr Prasad said that Circuit Bench of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal will be started soon in Srinagar, besides 350 lawyers of J&K will become notary soon.

”I’m really happy to be in Baramulla, where I inaugurated an Indoor Stadium. I appreciate the work done by the administration,” he said.

The Minister said that the Centre is striving hard for the overall development and prosperity of the youth of J&K.

Asserting that all possible support will be given for development of sports, he said, ”The children here are very happy. It is heartening to see that the children are capable of playing at national level. I have asked the J&K administration that all possible support should be given to the children.”

”Internet has been restored in many places and will be made operational in rest of the places as well in phased manner,” he added.

He said that the government will setup every required infrastructure for development and export of IT products from J&K UT. ”The incubation facility will provide opportunities to IT entrepreneurs by providing plug-n-play and other digital infrastructure along with regulatory support to develop and export IT products from the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Mr Prasad’s visit to the valley comes in the wake of outreach programme launched by the Centre to educate people about various developmental projects and schemes, including PMDP, flagship schemes and iconic projects, benefiting people in J&K. The Centre’s move of sending its 36 Union ministers to J&K under an ‘outreach programme’ comes after nearly six months of abrogation of Article 370 and division of the state into two separate union territories. Notably, out of 36 Union Ministers visiting J&K, only five will interact with people in Kashmir valley. (
