| Moral attack on pilgrims, physical attack on Gujjars | | Separatists, BJP must explain | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 1 Even though the secular majority of Jammu and Kashmir is trying to survive mindless efforts of the vested interests to create and prolong a communal clash in the state but few incidents have the potential of hurting communities. An attempt by agitators in Kashmir to force a group of Amarnath pilgrims to perform "Pakistan Zindabad slogans" and the gory act of protestors to set on fire hutments of poor Gujjars in Samba district deserve condemnation. A group of Amarnath pilgrims told EARLY TIMES here today that some protestors on the outskirts of Srinagar City forces them to recite Pakistan Zindabad. The group which was on way back home and had many women members said that they had rent the slogan out of fear. Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mitwaiz Umar Farooq have all long been saying the pilgrims are guests of Kashmiris but this act exposes the duplicity. In almost equally shamefull act, some protestors in Samba district today set the house of Gujjar Muslims on fire to give went to their anger against the land withdrawal from Shri Amarnath Board. The poor Gujjar families have been left homeless. It may be mentioned here that ever since eruption of militancy, Gujjars are the only community among Muslims who did not take part in the separatist movement and stood strongly for the Indian integration. If BJP says that what all has happened over the Amarnath yatra was forced by the separatists it must answer why it allowed attack on nationalists. |
