Srinagar | July 2
National Conference said the PDP is not coming out clearly on the issue of support to the Azad led Congress government and the stand of the PDP is ambiguous because it is not ready to relinquish power.
In a statement issued jointly by senior National Conference leaders – Dr. Mehboob Beig, Mohd Akbar Lone, Mian Altaf Ahmed and Ali Mohammad Sagar, the party said the ambiguity of the statements of the PDP leaders in this regard is a clear indication that the PDP leaders do not want to leave power because they want to go to the elections while being in the government so as to use the official machinery to their advantage in the coming elections and post pliable officers who will play to their tunes in the elections.
The statement further said that the PDP is creating confusion to bargain with New Delhi and ensure that they some how come to power and indulge in corrupt practices and sell government jobs to their favorites in the run-up to the elections.
The statement said PDP has a sinister design to keep their masters in Delhi happy so that the malpractices committed by them and their misdeeds of last five years remain under wraps and their ugly corrupt face is not exposed before the public.
The statement said it is very surprising that while Mehbooba Mufti is criticizing Gh. Nabi Azad's person, she has never once said categorically that her party will oppose the Azad led Congress government in the test on the floor of the House. The NC leaders said that the PDP many a times in the past has raised hollow slogans, raked up controversies and blackmailed the Union Government but have always compromised when it came to leaving power disregarding the sentiments of the people of the state.
Now again after having been a part of the decision making regarding the transfer of controversial land to the SASB, the PDP leaders shed crocodile tears and now that they realized that they are out of the government they are hobnobbing with the Centre to find ways and means to some how glue to the power and remain in good books of the centre so that they can indulge in all malpractices to some how retain power.
The statement said the people of the state can see through the designs of the PDP leadership who have always indulged in manipulative, divisive politics with the sole objective to stick to power for which they can adopt any un-scrupulous means. The NC leaders said it is a shame that the PDP wants to hunt with the hounds and run with the hare.
