Mehbooba indulging in mischievous campaign against Sinha: Rather

Srinagar | July 2
Abdul Rahim Rather, leader of the opposition in a statement issued here today has said that Mehbooba Mufti is indulging in a slanderous mischievous campaign regarding as to how Lt. Gen. S.K. Sinha was appointed as the Governor of J&K. He said "I want to put his appointment in the right perspective and inform Mehbooba Mufti that General Sinha was appointed Governor of the State when Mufti Mohd. Sayeed was the Chief Minister of the state in 2003".
He said infact the then Union Government had put forward a panel of three people before the Mufti Mohd. Sayeed government and it was after Mufti Sayeed's approval and consent that Lt. Gen. S.K. Sinha was appointed as the Governor of J&K.
Rather said if Mufti was averse to the appointment of Lt. Gen. S.K. Sinha as the Governor he should have resisted his appointment. He said if Mufti Sayeed did not approve Gen. Sinha's appointment he had an option to quit like Dr. Farooq Abdullah who quit as the Chief Minister when Jagmohan was appointed as Governor of the state because he and the National Conference did not approve Jagmohan as the Governor of the state and knew that behind Jagmohan's appointment as Governor of the state there was a mischievous design.
He advised Mehbooba not to distort history and facts and desist from launching a slanderous campaign by distorting and concocting the facts and their chronology.
Rather said PDP having lost its moorings among the people is now indulging in a false propaganda but he said it is not going to help the PDP which is politically extinct because the people of the state have seen through their dubious designs and their policy of double speak has been exposed before the people of the state.
