KPs protest in national capital
7/2/2008 10:37:01 PM
New Delhi | July 2
Roots in Kashmir, along with frontline Kashmiri Pandit organisations like Panun Kashmir and Kashmiri Samiti Delhi took once again to the streets of Delhi protesting against the Police Firing on innocent protestors in Jammu.
A 200 strong crowd shouted slogans against the Governor,Chief Minister, separatists as well as the PDP chief Mufti Sayeed and his mercurial daughter Mehbooba.
They were furious that while Govt of Jammu and Kashmir did not impose curfew in Kashmir even after 8 days of violence and mayhem yet the very first day of protests saw Police beating, shelling and firing at protestors in Jammu. They questioned the dual policy of the State Government who have come down heavily on the protestors in Jammu but allowed Kashmiri Muslims to go scot free.
It seems The State Government is hand in glove with the sepratists said Amit Magazine.
Another protestor Pooja Shali said ,"The State government seems to be in total submission to the separtists and seems to be following their agenda of dividing the nation as well as the State.
They blocked traffic at the rush hour and for more than an hour central Delhi seemed to have stood still with no traffic movement at all.
This is just a precursor to what is likely to happen if Govt of J&K does not give the land back to the Shrine Board.
They were especially angry that Kashmiri Pandit camps were at the receiving end of the Police action. Why are they targetting Pandits so much asked Arun Santoshi? Is it because we are peace loving people with no vote bank he quipped.
As the crowd burnt tyres and shouted slogans a lot of common people joined them to express their cocern and support for the cause.
