Communal tension erupts, Curfew in Bhaderwah
13 hurt in grenade blast

Sings of militants’ intervention were seen in the extended protests demonstrations on the issue of Amarnath Yatra across the region as a grenade exploded in Bhaderwah Township injuring 13 persons including five CRPF cops.
Along with Kishtwar and other small townships of Jammu region, Bhaderwah, the home town of Chief Minister, had also observed a shut down when communal clashes erupted between two communities. Sources said that Personal Security Staff of a local Congress leader opened fire during the demonstrations and immediately after that a grenade exploded in the area resulting into grevious injuries to 13 people. Some of them with critical injuries were later shifted by air to the Government Medical College here for advanced treatment.
"Some protesters were forcing closure of shops of Muslim community who refused to shut down and they throw stones on each other", Javid Azad the chairman of the Bhaderwah Municipal Committee said. He added, "I along with my security guard also received head injury. He said a grenade exploded on the road side however added it was not known immediately as where from the grenade was thrown.
Curfew was clamped in Bhaderwah and also in Samba with the army staging flag marches in the two towns after 27 people were injured in communal clashes, the grenade attack and an incident of a mob torching five mud houses, overall reports said.
Over 70 people were arrested across the region and 50 people including 15 policemen and a CRPF constable were injured in the violence, officials said.
They said Jammu-Srinagar, Jammu-Poonch and Jammu- Pathankot highways were also clogged with Kashmiri migrants and activists of Hindu groups squatting at various points.
Demanding removal of Governor N N Vohra for revoking the order transferring forest land to Amarnath shrine board, BJP, VHP and Shiv Sena activists fought pitched battles with police at various places.
