| Jammu plunges to darkness | | | Early Times Reporter

Entire Jammu city and many of its peripheral areas plunged into a perpetual darkness late tonight sending the local residents in a state of panic.
Barring at some sensitive locations like Railway Station and army camps, the power supply went off by around 10:15 tonight from entire city including the VIP areas. People made frantic calls to the power stations to confirm the causes but every body appeared confused at what had happened.
Later it was learnt that the power supply got snapped due to a devastating fire that broke out at the Gladni Grid station near Narwal. Sources said that the power broke out due to short circuit and overload is also stated to be a reason as the PDD is not resorting to even the routine power cuts since Tuesday.
Later, huge flames were seen emanating out of the Gird Station at Gladni. Dozens of fire tenders pressed into action took nearly 45 minutes to douse the flames. Authorities said that the Grid Station has suffered huge loss and it may take even a couple of days to restore the power supply. |
