Govt will discharge all responsibilities vis-à-vis pilgrimage: Charak

Minister for Higher Education Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak on Saturday said that government would discharge all the responsibilities of undertaking the creation of required infrastructure and providing full logistical support for making available various services with a view to fully ensure and facilitate the welfare, safety and security of Shri Amarnath pilgrims during the entire yatra period.
Member Parliament Ch. Lal Singh, Minister of State for Power Mr. Babu Singh, Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Janak Raj Gupta and MLA East Mr. Yogesh Sawhney were also present on the occasion.
Briefing the media persons, Mr. Charak informed that government would ensure proper transportation to visiting pilgrims of Shri Amarnath ji and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji by plying requisite number of buses to and fro from Railway Station, Bus Stand and Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar. He said that the Government was committed to ensure all facilities to yatris for peaceful and secure darshans at holy cave. He said land would be made available to the Tourism Department, the nodal agency, to look into the yatra arrangements, as per requirement, at various locations from Jammu onward to the Holy Cave via Baltal-Domail as well as Pahalgam yatra route.
Mr. Charak informed that to provide assistance to the people, the government has arranged sufficient stock of essential commodities including ration, eatables and LPG etc and would also be supplied to all the districts of the region. He informed that PHE and PDD authorities asked to ensure regular supply of drinking water and electricity to the people. He said that CAPD would ply mobile vans for providing eatables like atta, sugar, rice and milk and LPG cylinders.
Regarding the facilities being provided to the visiting Amarnath and Vaishno Devi yatries it was informed the government has arranged free langers at Railway station and Bus Stand in Jammu and TRC in Srinagar out of CM’s Relief fund for the convenience of Yatris. He said that the government has established Yatri complex for Amarnath Yatries at Bhagwati Nagar at a cost of Rs. 5 crore and it is serving as the base camp for the yatries. He said that in the base camp every facility has been made available from PCO to free langers, shopping complex, grocery shops, travel shops, booking counters and banking facilities etc. In addition to this, ten lodging centers have been set up at Jammu where yatries are being offered free stay facilities.
Regarding free langer facilities, Mr. Charak informed 29 langers were set up from Lakhanpur to Banihal. The langers were being run by the private social organization with the full support of government. For the convenience of Shri Amarnath yatries, he said that drinking water, electricity supply are being made available at transit camps and base camps regularly.
The Minister informed that the Heath Department to be fully prepared to meet any kind of emergency. He called for ensure that the different Health institutions function round the clock for providing adequate medicare to the visiting patients. Besides it would also ply ambulances on various routes.
Lauding the role of Jammuites in maintaining communal harmony, mutual brotherhood and peace from time immemorial, the Minister appealed all sections of the society to maintain calm and not fall prey to evil designs of communal and anti-peace elements. He appealed the people of Jammu region to restore normalcy and not get misled by vested interests who want to create disturbance and destroy the peaceful and tranquil environment of the state.
Earlier, the Minister visited Government Medical College to enquire the condition of those who were injured at Bhaderwah grenade attack and bullet injury victims at Muthi.
He asked the GMC authorities to provide best free medicare facilities to the injured so that they recover speedily.
During the visit, the GMC authorities projected the problems being faced by them during Jammu bandh including adequate supply of drinking water and provision of more ambulances.
Regarding supply of drinking water and ambulances, he asked them as and when the GMC requires any facilities, they should inform the Divisional Commissioner Jammu or Control Room for immediate action.
Later, the Minister also visited Railway Station and Bus Stand to review the arrangements made by district administration for Amarnath Yatris including free langer, medical, transport and banking facilities etc.
