| Attack on PDP leader’s house condemned | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 5 Dhaman Bhasin, General Secretary People's Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly condemned the attack on the house of senior PDP leader Dr Roop Lal Sharma at Roop Nagar by the protestors here today and has blamed the Azad lead government for failing to protect the masses from mob violence. In a statement Bhasin said that the pre planed attacks on the PDP leadership starting from MLA Shanti Devi, Dhaman Bhasin and others and now on the house of Dr Roop Lal Sharma demonstrates that Azad was bent upon to harass the PDP leadership and divert the attention of protestors from Congress leaders by denying proper security cover to them. He said that Jammu based PDP leadership was in no way responsible for the present mess and blamed the congress ministers for befooling people over the issue. Bhasin said that the government was deliberately denying security cover to PDP leadership despite the fact that the leaders have been bearing the brunt of mob attacks for the past many days. Referring to Dr Roop Lal Sharma, Bhasin said that he had asked for a proper security cover in November 2007 and despite all the formalities of verification etc no security cover was provide to him. He said that Dr Roop Lal Sharma had also conveyed his apprehensions to DGP a day before but police chose to remain ignorant of the fact till the attack took place adding even after the attack police has taken no cognizance to provide proper security to him. Bhasin also clarified that PDP leadership was in no way anti-Jammu adding it were the congress ministers in Azad government who were instrumental in revoking the land transfer order in the cabinet meeting as PDP had already withdrawn the support and no PDP minister was in the Cabinet. |
