| Tributes paid to Kashmiri scholars | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | July 7 Rich tributes were paid to two renowned Scholars of Kashmir Valley , Qari Saif-ud-Din and Prof Shams-ud Din Ahmed in a special function held at the headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir academy of Art, Culture and Languages at Lal Mandi here this afternoon. The Programme was Presided over by Renowned Kashmiri Historian and MLC Mohammad Yusuf Teing while eminent personalities , Gh. Nabi Khayal, and Gh. Nabi Gohar were also in presidium. Earlier welcoming the guests Zaffar Iqbal Khan Manhas Secretary Academy said Noted Islamic scholar Qari Saif ud Din was a leader as well he won the assembly election in 1972 as Jama'at candidate from Khanyar constituency and was the leader of the party's parliamentary group in the House, added that he will be remembered for his work which he has render for the development of Kashmiri culture and Society. He was the authoer of one dozen books . Acknowledging his contributions to Persian and Kashmiri literature, Zaffar described Shamsuddin Ahmad as a multi-dimensional personality who was adept in reflecting on diverse issues. The speakers also remembered his work as translator as he had translated several Persian works including Tareek-e- Hassan by Hassan Sahe Koihame, Payeember by Zain-ul-Aabidin Rehnuma into Hayate Nabi (SAW. Other who spoke on the occasion including Naseem Shaifai, Prof Preem singh, G.R Hasrat Gadda, Mohammad Yusuf Teing , Ghulam Nabi Gohar and Gh. Nabi Khyal. Mohammad Ashraf Tak, Editor Urdu conducted the proceeding while Dr. Shafaq Sopori Deputy Secretary Academy presented vote of thanks. A galaxy of Writers poets were present on the occasion. |
