Congress need not ignore sacrifices of B.R.Kundal

Jammu | July 7
For B.R.Kundal, who had sought premature retirement as Chief Secretary, the decision of Ghulam Nabi Azad is as bad as a mishap. Though he had been rewarded with a cabinet post by joining the congress after leave the cozy Chief Secretary's chair, four months before his retirement,he will not be now in a position to receive even one month's salary.
Not only this he has lost the chance to be next to N N Vohra during the Governor's rule which was being imposed in Jammu and Kashmir. Even if Vohra will opt for a few advisers to run the state administration Kundal would have, as Chief Secretary, enjoyed unbridled powers for next four months till his retirement.
Since he has lost every chance of going back to the civil secretariat as Chief secretary he has been left with no other alternative but to remain in politics. The most important question related to the future of Kundal that has risen is whether senior Congress leaders will support him while he sought party ticket for contesting the ensuing election or for getting elected to the Legislative Council ?
Kundal has been a seasoned and upright bureaucrat. His charisma could halt the march of pro-Mayawati elements in the BSP.He had been encouraged by Ghulam Nabi Azad to join the Congress and for accepting the cabinet post simply to garner support of pro-BSP voters for the Congress.Hence it would be in the interest of the Congress if B.R.Kundal was either given a party mandate for contesting the election or for getting elected to the upper House.
