| Race for Advisors on | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 7 Even as the situation is yet to emerge clear on the next regime of Governance in Jammu and Kashmir following resignation of Ghulam Nabi Azad as Chief Minister, speculations are being made in the political circles on the probability of Advisors to the Governor if the state comes under Governor's rule –which appears imminent. In case the Governor takes the charge of governance till elections, he is likely to appoint Advisors to his office to look after and advise on various departments. Since the political situation is too sensitive, the Governor NN Vohra in all probability may opt for non-political faces as his Advisors who will be carrying the status and responsibility of a Minister. Names of former Chief Secretaries SS Bloria and C Phunsog, former DGP TR Kalra and PSC chairman Mohammad Shafi Pandit are taking rounds in the political and bureaucratic circles. While Bloeria has already served a long stint at the Raj Bhawan as Principal Secretary to the Governor, Phunsog is the advisor to outgoing Chief Minister Azad. Kalra, first IPS officer of Jammu and Kashmir, had retired as DGP in mid 1990s and is believed to have a seasoned approach to the administrative and policing affairs. Pandit is being named for his honest and upright attitude and the Kashmir connection. Sources said these four names are being actively discussed for the key assignments of Advisors to the Governor in the event of imposition Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir. Official sources said before making public the names of the Governors advisors a comprehensive exercise was undertaken by the senior bureaucrats to give fair representation to all three regions. We have started sorting out the names of probabale advisors to the Governor only after receiving green sognal from the right quarters about the need to do so. It is learnt that names of these three officers have been doing the rounds since Sunday when it became clear that fall of GhulamNabi Azad govt is imminent on the floor of the house. Significantly, all these three officers have wide experience of administration behind their names and if given another opportunity to govern the state they would prove to be an asset for the state. |
