| NC Legislators call on the Governor | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | July 8 A deputation of National Conference Legislators of Jammu province called on the Governor Shri N.N. Vohra at Raj Bhawan Srinagar here today under the leadership of Shri Ajay Sadhotra, Provincial President Jammu Province and discussed the issues concerning Jammu province with him. The deputation urged the Governor to take emergent steps to defuse the situation in Jammu and take immediate measures to restore normalcy and instill confidence in the people of Jammu province. Ajay Sadhotra told the Governor that National Conference is committed to secularism and shall work untiringly to uphold the rich tradition of communal harmony in Jammu region. The deputation also told the Governor that the people of Jammu have a glorious past and have always been a symbol of tolerance brotherhood and communal amity, but they urged the Governor to uphold the dignity and self respect of the people of Jammu province. The deputation urged the Governor to take all possible steps to ensure the smooth conduct of the yatra to the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine and also take measures to ensure comfort and welfare of the yatries. The deputation also urged the Governor to gear up the administration to take immediate steps to restore the power supply in Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri Districts and thereby reduce the hardships being caused to the people of these areas due to power shutdown. The deputation also took up other issues of public importance for the welfare of the people of Jammu province. The Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured them that he was equally concerned about the issues raised by the deputation and his government will take immediate remedial measures where required.
