DDC convenes District Task Force committee meeting, reviews implementation of BBBP schemes

RAMBAN, Feb 18: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan today chaired a meeting of District Task Force to review implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme across district.
The Meeting was attended by ADC, Ashok Kumar, PO ICDS, ASP, Sanjay Parihar, CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal, CMO,Dr. Janak Raj, Dy. CMO, Dr. Iqbal Bhat, DPO, Sunil Bhutyal, District Social welfare officer, CDPOs and other officers and officials of the district.
It was decided in the meeting that special awareness programme in the form of symposium, wall painting debates, cultural and mass awareness programmes would be organized by the Education, Health, Panchyatiraj, ICDS and social welfare department in the district .
DDC said decline in female sex ratio is a major indicator of women disempowerment as it reflects both pre birth discrimination manifested through gender biased sex selection and post birth discrimination against girls. He also directed the line departments to work cordially for the successful implantation of BBBP.
He directed the police and health departments to ensure effective implementation of PNDT Act in the district to stop female foeticide and banned prenatal sex determination test which is the root cause of declining female sex ratio.
He directed the field officials of ICDS department and ASHA workers to sensitize youth especially newly married couples about family planning to overcome the nationwide overpopulation problem.
Meantime ADC also apprised the meeting about the preparedness being made by the different departments to celebrate “International Women's Day” 2020 across the district.
DDC impressed upon the all stakeholders to organized innovative events in this regard to educate women about their rights.
