| State Finance Commission acknowledges speedy development of Budgam | | | Early Times Reporter Budgam | July 8 The State Finance Commission visited Budgam to take a joint meeting of selected public representatives and district administration to give hearing and receive evidence in connection with developmental imbalances between regions. The Commission headed by Mehmood-ur-Rehman was accompanied by members Swami Raj Sharma, Prof Nisar Ali and Sonam Dawra. Giving the resume of the developmental activities of the district, the District Development Commissioner, informed the commission that besides the regular developmental activities, the 10 crore Bemina Bridge was completed within 11 months of record time and various mega developmental projects including the Humhama-Raithan road is under execution in the district. The Commission in the light of the terms of reference sought feedback from the public representatives in order to ascertain that viable distribution of funds take place so that equitable development of all regions is ensured. The representatives and the Sectoral officers while putting forward various observations and suggestions asked for improving the funding of the local bodies, particularly of the elected municipal committee.. The Commission was further informed that the basic infrastructure in particular the roads and sanitation in the district calls for immediate attention for improvement. Speaking on the occasion the Chairman, State Finance Commission said that the Commission has taken note of the suggestion and would be forwarded to the government. He asked the assembled gathering that suggestions regarding improving the administrative set up would also be welcome and the same can be put forward before the Commission in writing. |
