State Taxes Department imposes penalties on tax evaders

POONCH, Feb 20: The State Taxes Officer, Enforcement wing Rajouri-Poonch range under the instructions of Commissioner, State taxes, P.K. Bhat (KAS) and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner, State Taxes (Administration and Enforcement), Rifat Kohli (KAS), and under close supervision of DC enforcement, Samba, Sanjay Gupta (KAS) intercepted various vehicles carrying goods at kalai, Poonch for physical verification, scrutiny of tax invoices and electronic way (e-way) bills.
State taxes officer (STO), Enforcement wing Rajouri-Poonch range, Ashiq Rafiq Malik appealed the traders fraternity and the shopkeepers of the region to ensure generation of e-way bills on the e-way Bill Portal for movement of goods.
The STO(Enforcement) also urged traders, transporters and shopkeepers to ensure the receipt of tax invoices of the stocks purchased and held by them, for sale on their business premises.
"The State Taxes Department shall continue inspection of conveyances carrying goods towards Rajouri-Poonch without proper tax invoices, e-way bills etc. with the intention to evade tax shall be penalized under section 129 of CGST Act, so as to ensure that the genuine traders who fulfill/ comply with all the GST rules are not hit by such malpractices" informed Ashiq Rafiq, the STO.
The dealers, whose vehicles carrying goods without proper documents were detained and imposed penalty to the tune of Rs 45,300 after scrutiny of tax invoices and few cases are under scrutiny. Moreover, total penalties imposed till ending January, 2020(Aug. to Jan.) were amounting to Rs 14,20,582.
The inspection team included State taxes Officer, Rajouri-poonch range Ashiq Rafiq Malik(KAS), State Taxes Officer Circle Poonch, Mohd Yousaf Bhat, inspector, Vikas Sharma and other officials of the department.
