| Jain inaugurates 3 day training course | | | Early Times Reporter Leh | July 8 A 3 day training course on planning and implementation on National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) to the field level functionaries of DRDA and Rural Dev. Department began in Leh today inaugurated by the director general J&K IMPA, Pramod Jain. The professor of Rural Development IMPA & RD, Dr. S.N. Alam, associate Prof. IMPA & RD Dr. G.M. Dar, project directors of DRDA, Leh and Kargil, BDO’s VCWs and other field workers of DRDA and Rural Dev. Department attended the training course. Addressing on the occasion, Jain highlighted the importance and concept of NREGA. He said that the primary objective of the scheme is to provide livelihood security to the households in rural areas by providing not less than 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in every financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled and manual work. He said that NREGA shall be implemented as a centrally sponsored scheme on cost sharing between the center and the state in the ratio of 90:10. Terming NREGA a revolutionary and a landmark scheme, Jain strongly emphasized the workers to implement the scheme with hardworking, meticulous and dedication so that a positive change in the rural life is ensured. He also felt the need for constituting Vigilance and Monitoring committees for smooth implementation on this scheme, Pramod Jain also urged for computerization of planning and other papers of this scheme to ensure transparency, accountability and quality work. |
