| NC appreciates Jammuites role | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu | July 8
National Conference in a meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Rattan Lal Gupta, Sr. Vice President has lauded the role of Jammuites and appreciated them for maintaining and upholding peace and communal harmony in Jammu and other areas of the province.
The National Conference Leaders in their meeting further appealed to the people of Jammu to strengthen the traditional spirit of unity, communal harmony and brotherhood.
The meeting expressed shock and grief over the death of Manjit Singh of Bhaderwah and Ramesh Chander of Pirmitha, Jammuand demanded from the divisional authorities to pay rupees ten lakh as ex-gratia relief to the family of all those who have been apprehended by the police during the protests in various parts of Jammu region.
It was also decided in the meeting that 8th Death Anniversary of Madr-e-Meharban Begum Akbar Jahan falling on 11th July, 2008 shall be observed as “Sadhbhawana Day” and the Martyrs Day falling on 13th of July will be observed as “Unity and Integrity Day of the State”. Rattan Lal Gupta, Sr. Vice President, Jammu province who was chairing the meeting called upon the party rank and file to make necessary arrangements.
Among others who were present in the meeting included Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Vice President, Chander Mohan Sharma, District President Jammu URBAN, Mohinder Gupta, District President Jammu rural “B”, Bimla Luthra, Provincial President Women Wing, Gurdeep Singh Sassan, Jugal Mahajan, Th. Kashmira Singh, Ex-MLC, Shyam Mehra, Pardeep Bali, Rita Gupta,Veena Oberai, Ravinder Kour, Manjeet Kour, Rachpal Singh,Gurnam Singh and others. |
