Collective efforts needed to ensure deserving avail benefits of central schemes: MD ICDS

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 21: Highlighting the role of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Mission Director ICDS, J&K, Nitu Gupta exhorted that collective efforts are needed to ensure that benefits of various central schemes reach to deserving and weaker sections of the society.

She expressed these views while chairing a meeting here to review the implementation of various Central schemes including Poshan Abhiyan, PMMVY, SAG, ECCE and SNP.

Joint Director ICDS, Deputy Director ICDS Kashmir, Deputy Director ICDS Jammu, various Programme Officers of J&K, all CDPOs of District Jammu and Samba and Accounts Officer State Mission Directorate Vishnukant Sharma and other concerned were present in the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, the Mission Director said that through a multi-ministerial convergence the deserving could avail the benefits of these schemes so that the issues including mal-nutrition, prevalence of anaemia among children, women and adolescent girls are taken care of.

She impressed upon all the officers to work with added zeal and zest to achieve the fixed targets and sensitize the masses about the need and importance of ICDS.

Nitu Gupta said that sufficient funds have been released by the central government and placed at the disposal of DPOs and CDPOs as such prompt action is required for utilization of these funds under proper way as per the standing norms and guidelines. She has also assured the officers about the rationalization of staff.

During the meeting, on spot directions were passed for filling up of statement/status of facts of the cases in the court of law which are still unfilled, completion of the maintenance work on model Anganwadi Centres and the release of honorarium to all Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers which has been decentralised through DBT mode with supervisor as Nodal Officer.

The meeting also deliberated upon various issues like linkage of AWCs with Nearest Ration Depots, Area of AWCs as per revised norms of the Scheme, Providing of drinking water and toilet facilities to AWCs, Modules for ILA training, Registration of Programme Officers and CDPOs on GeM Portal and Aadhar seeding of all beneficiaries’ etc.
