| Salute to Jammu Muslims | | | | Salute to the people of Jammu for maintaining perfect unity in the hour of crises and perceived attack on their regional urges as well as religious sentiments of a community. The Muslims of Jammu in particular deserve kudos for standing behind their Hindu brethren by extending full support to the movement going on in Jammu for last 10 days against the alleged action of the authorities in surrendering before the blackmail and pressure of anti national and communal elements in Kashmir, who tried their utmost to communalize the issue of allotment of some land to the SASB for creating facilities for the Hindu pilgrims, by raising the wolf cry of a conspiracy to change the demographic character of Muslim majority Kashmir by permanently settling Hindus on the land. While Kashmiris by and large fell in the trap of religious fundamentalists and anti India elements, whose game plan was to give impetus to their movement for secession from India, the people of Jammu particularly the Muslims in the length and breadth of Jammu region refused to fall in the trap and see the issue from Hindu Muslim angle. Instead they fully realized the nefarious design of the mischievous elements, who wanted to drive the political mileage out of the whole exercise and by standing shoulder to shoulder with their Hindu brothers they did not allow the movement in Jammu to take communal colouring in any way. Some events having communal overtones, visible in the beginning were not allowed to be flared up and were timely controlled by various sections of right thinking people from all the religious communities issuing appeals for maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood and not letting the agitation in any way to assume communal colouring. Instead there was general wrath against the government, the Governor and the secessionists and religious fundamentalists in Kashmir. The Muslims of Jammu in particular have played a positive role in this regard. This has been the single positive development and achievement of the present agitation in Jammu which is an outlet of pent-up resentment in Jammu over continuous hegemony of Kashmiri politicians over them. Another positive aspect has been that people at large involved in the agitation and holding protests refused to oblige those who tried to turn the movement against Kashmiris in general and the same was confined against the Kashmir centric rulers and politicians. However talks of "No Haaj—No Amarnath yatra" made by some elements are not in the right spirit and a wise reaction to the development. The feeling of hurt of their religious sentiments by the Hindus, is not caused by the Muslims. But the same is caused by the Governor, the government and anti India and religious fundamentalists in Kashmir. The entire wrath should remain confined against them and not against any religious community. |
