CLUJ celebrates Matribhasha Day

Jammu, Feb 21: EBSB Wing of Department of Students Welfare,Cluster University of Jammu celebrated “Matribhasha Diwas” to highlight the linguistic diversity of our country and encourage usage of language not only of their respective mother tongue but other Indian languages as well. ll. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has embarked to celebrate this day across the country. The theme of the programmme was celebration of India's Multilingual Heritage reflecting the sprit of Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat (EBSB). The EBSB Club of Cluster university of Jammu carried out different activities; Display of books, Screening of Short films, panel discussion and small play by the students from the five constituent colleges and PGI schools of cluster university of Jammu to make the students aware of the importance and relevance of their tongue. A documentary on the life of Pt. Ram Nath Shastri, father of Dogri Literature known for his pivotal role in the revival and resurgence of the Dogri Language was shown to the students in which his achievements and life story was highlighted.A melody mash of musical cultural items was presented by the students including Punjabi, dogri , hindi songs.
Prof. Anju Bhasin , Vice Chancellor in her address highlighted on the significance of preserving and promoting our mother tongue so as to keep it vibrant and afresh to enhance the regional culture and traditions which are being forgotten by the younger generation.
She exhorted that it is imperative to read and understand our matribhasha to retain the cultural heritage and diversity of Jammu and Kashmir.Dr Jatinder Khajuria, Registrar also emphasised that the objective of Organising the programme was to facilitate the cultural diversity of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Programme was coordinated by Dr. Jasvinder Singh, Nodal officer, EBSB Cluster University Jammu under the aegis of Dr Twinkle Suri Dean Students Welfare with the coordination of Principals and Deans of constituent colleges and schools of Cluster University Jammu.
