| PDP meeting Thursday to devise strategy | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 8 In view of the latest emerging political situation, the Peoples Democratic Party’s executive committee is meeting in Srinagar on Thursday to chalk out a future strategy. The PDP will take stock of the latest political situation and is likely to frame a course of action on the forthcoming elections. It may be mentioned here that the PDP’s Political Affairs Committee had already constituted a panel headed by its senior leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig to select the candidates for elections. In the meeting of working committee of the party members would be briefed about the political situation and the success the party leadership achieved in getting the land diversion order revoked. Party sources said that in the meeting guidelines for facing the electorate were being formulated which would be discussed in the general body meeting of the PDP scheduled to be held in Srinagar on July 12. Indications are that the working committee members will fix the date for releasing the party's self-rule document. A senior PDP leader today said “we not in a hurry to r elease the self rule document." He said "it will be made public at an opportune time”. He said "we have to concentrate on cashing on the pro-PDP sentiments in the Kashmir valley." Asked whether the PDP will explore the possibility of forging an alliance with the congress or for reachi ng some elect oral understanding with it the PDP leader said "it is too early to discuss this issue.It will be decided when the poll schedule is announced." |
