Leh election officer convene meeting

The District Election Officer, Leh Dr. M.K Bhandari who is also the Deputy Commissioner today convened a meeting with the leaders of Political Parties of Leh district in his Office Conference room.
The President, District Congress Committee, Leh Mr. Rigzin Spalbar, President, BJP Mr. Sonam Paljor, General Secretary, LUTF Mr. Rinchen Namgyal, Ahmat-Ulla Azad, National Conference, Mr. Mohd Nazir, PDP, Councilor Diskit Mr. Tsewang Rigzin, ADC Mr. Sonam Gyaltson, ACR Mr. Surat Singh and Election Naib Tehsildar Mrs. Phuntsog attended the meeting.
Dr. M.K Bhandari giving details of the election process said that the Administration is focusing its mind to ensure a clear and transparent preparation of Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) and completion of Form 001B for updation of election roll by new entries, deletions due to expire, shifting or repetition of electors. He said that the Booth Level Officer (BLOs) have been imparted training and at present all the BLOs are in their respective Polling Stations on duty as per the directions issued by the Election Commission of India.
Dr. Bhandari said that 45 percent of EPIC coverage have already completed and efforts are on to achieve 100 percent EPIC coverage during the time bound period. He said that 11,885 voters are in Nubra Constituency including 5,953 female voters, likewise 62,533 voters are in Leh Constituency with 31,680 female voters in the final electoral roll.
A total of 74,418 electors are in the District for both the Assembly Constituencies of Leh and Nubra which include 4,757 electors as net additions in the draft roll. After completion of the updation exercise the total number of electors my be increased or decreased, he added.
The District Election Officer urged upon the leaders of all Political parties to co-operate with the administration in the preparation of election process like continuous updation of Electoral Roll, coverage of EPIC and other election related issues.
The Presidents and Representatives of all Political parties of the district assured to co-operate with the election authorities in the preparation of Election papers and also put forth their views and suggestions for a free, fair and transparent process.
The President District Congress Committee Mr. Rigzin Spalbar urged upon the people of Leh district to co-operate with the BLOs in the preparation of EPIC and other election related matters.
