| DEO for timely completion of Electoral Rolls | | | Early Times Reporter

District Election Officer (DEO), Udhampur, Mr. O.P. Kalandria has called upon the representatives of various political parties of district Udhampur to extend full cooperation to Election staff for up-dation of Electoral Rolls and preparation of Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs)
Convening a meeting of representatives of various political parties here on Thursday, Mr. Kalandria said that coordination between various agencies is must to evolve conducive environment for the ensuing elections and to minimize the complaints in electoral rolls.
Mr. Kalandria asked the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to work in close coordination with local representatives of various political parties to complete the assigned task effectively.
Assuring full cooperation to District Election Officer, the representatives of political parties demanded provision of revised voter lists in Hindi in addition to Urdu and English, conducting of door to door survey by the election staff in consultation with locals of the area by fixing a specified time with locations so that common people may approach them for necessary corrections, additions and deletions of names etc.
Later, speaking at BLOs meeting, the DEO called upon them to perform their duties sincerely in revision of electoral rolls and preparation of EPICs in consultation with Nambardars and Chowkidars. He asked the Chowkidars to coordinate with BLOs so that the corrected electoral rolls could be prepared well in time.
The DEO instructed BLOs regarding preparation of EPICs for at least one member of each family of electors.
The prominent political representatives who attended the meeting included Councilor Brij Mohan Sharma of Congress, Pawan Gupta of BJP, Dhani Ram Atri of BSP, Sudesh Sharma of JKNPP and Mr. Jagdish Verma of NC.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. J.L. Sharma (Nodal Officer), Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Rajesh Sharma, Chief Planning Officer, Rakesh Jamwal and Tehsildar, Mr. Ashwani Kumar were also present in the meeting. |
