| Jammu echoes with ‘recall Vohra’ slogans | | Bar, Samiti, BJP remind Governor of deadline | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 10 In their separate protests the Amarnath Shrine Samiti, Jammu Bar Association and BJP today reiterated that the agitation will be resumed if the controversial land was not restored to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board. These three main organizations joined by many others also demanded recall of the Governor saying that his decision for surrendering land was illegal and unconstitutional. Protests and demonstration continued against Governor at several places while lawyers held a meeting com sit-in outside the High Court complex where members were urged upon to intensify the agitation. "Vohra go back", demanded Jammu Bar Association members who staged the sit-in outside the high court in Jammu Thursday, saying that either he be recalled or he should get the land order restored in favour of the Amarnath shrine board. Jammu Bar Association president Baldev Singh Salathia said that the governor's act was "unconstitutional and illegal" since as chairman of the board he has no powers to relinquish what has been transferred to the shrine board. BJP state unit president Ashok Khajuria at a joint press conference Thursday afternoon alleged Vohra was an "agent of the Congress". He displayed his "anti-Hindu and anti-Jammu feelings" by returning the land to the state government, Khajuria said. "He must go. The central government should send another governor," said Khajuria. "Vohra is not acceptable to us," he added. The protesters in Jammu region, apart from burning effigies of political leaders of the Congress, PDP and National Conference, have set ablaze effigies of the new governor as well. "We have suspended our work for the 10th day today and would continue. We also appeal to all bar associations of the Jammu province to suspend work," he said adding that a committee of senior advocates had been formed to legally examine the recommendation made by the State Governor which led to revocation of the land transfer order. The Bar Association reiterated its support Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti which is presently leading the agitation as the Bar Association never wanted to give an impression that people of Jammu are a divided house. Slathia said that the Bar appeals to the Sanagarsh Samiti to give an impression that they are representing the sentiments and voice of the people of Jammu and not a particular political, social or religious organization as the people of Jammu are known for maintaining traditional communal harmony, brotherhood and strengthening the secular character. The other who addressed the demonstrations includes M/S DK Khajuria, VR Wazir, LK Sharma, PS Dutta, S Surinder Singh, AV Gupta, SDS Saini, OP Sharma, BB Kotwal, Onkar Seth, Sunil Sethi, Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Rajesh Thappa and Minu Koul. Speakers among the lawyers who addressed the protest meeting were unanimously of the view that Kashmiri centric politicians had been discriminating with the people of Jammu since 1947 which shall no longer be tolerated at any cost. The Bar members also of the view that recommendation made by the Governor as chairman of SASB which resulted in revocation of earlier order is illegal and against the provisions of the Act, BJ again appeal to all the Jammu people to join hand to fight this decisive battle collectively leaving aside their petty political interests . According to Secretary General BAJ that the members of the BAJ today on 11th day not appeared in the High Court Jammu Wing and as well as Subordinate Courts |
