| Guest at PHQ –the Governor | | | Early Times Reoprter Srinagar, July 11: Instead of summoning the officers to the Civil Secretariat or Raj Bhawan, the Governor today drone into the neighboring Police headquarters to get a first hand account of the prevailing security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. Governor’s visit to the Police headquarters was an unprecedented move as no top dignitary has been seen visiting the field offices for meetings. During his meeting with the top brass of Police, the Governor asked the officers to adopt an effective mechanism for dispelling rumours among public. His obvious reference was perhaps to the misgivings about the Amarnath Yatra affairs. The Governor was also briefed on the security arrangements made for Amarnath Yatra from both the Pahalgam and the Baltal routes. Vohra complimented the Police for meeting the challenges of terrorism with courage and said that the force has played and shall continue to play in bringing about normalcy in the State. He stressed the need for taking all necessary steps to ensure a peaceful poll and said that an undisturbed environment must prevail to ensure a free, fair and impartial electoral process. Vohra was given a presentation on security and law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Besides senior officers of various security agencies, Chief Secretary, Mr S S Kapur, was also present.
