Srinagar | July 12
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President, Mehbooba Mufti today said that her party is all set to expose and discuss the chain of sequences, which generated outrage across Jammu and Kashmir, claiming about a dozen of innocent lives in both regions of the State.
Addressing a daylong session of members of party's general council, Mufti said that taking reins of the State government in 2002 was a crown of thorns coupled with the inherited follies committed by the National Conference leadership in its long 30 years regime. She said that countless blunders of National Conference regime, be it draconian laws like POTA, Special Task Force, corruption and favoritism in recruitment process, and above all the sense of insecurity, the task ahead for her party was tough that too coming with only 16 MLAs and heading the coalition government.
Mehbooba said that in spite of all challenges, the PDP under the leadership of its farsighted and a visionary Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed withstood all odds and did succeed in effecting a noticeable change in the situation on the ground. She added Sayeed withstanding all challenges, never allowed the sinister designs of the former governor S K Sinha to succeed. She said that during Sayeed's tenure the land transfer as was demanded by the former governor Sinha for Amaranth Shrine Board was categorically refused by Sayeed who despite the resignation threats given by some Congress ministers stuck to his stand, foreseeing the repercussions of any such move.
The PDP Chief said that Shrine Board being one of the follies of NC created in connivance with BJP was to implement the communal agenda of the fascist forces through BJP's blue-eyed person and the former governor S K Sinha. "And unfortunately after the transfer of power Sinha as the governor and chairman of the Shrine Board acted as a parallel government in close proximity with Ghulam Nabi Azad. Sinha like a politician started criticizing PDP's agenda and proposals, be it withdrawal of troops, duel currency, regional council etc. He also went to the extent of calling PDP as anti national and a supporter of militants," she said.
Mehbooba reiterated that her party is a people's party, which in no circumstances can compromise on the wishes and aspirations of its people and it would always stand by people. She said the latest pullout from the state government is an example, which should open eyes of PDP critics and detractors who have committed blunders in their 30 years regime but never ever took the responsibility, not to talk of leaving power.
On this occasion PDP senior leader Muzaffar Hussain Beig lashed out at National Conference saying that people of Jammu and Kashmir including PDP has once again paid a huge price for NC's follies. Inauguration of a Sarai at Baltal in 1980 by late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and creation of Shrine board by his son Dr Farooq Abdullah are just few examples of the NC follies, he added.
