| Rural areas still lack basic facilities in valley: Tarigami | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 12 The Communist Party of India (M) today alleged that rural areas in Kashmir valley have been facing acute shortage of essentials, besides health care, good roads and education system. In a press statement issued here today, CPI (M) Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami alleged, "Our rural areas wherein the majority of our people stay, continue to suffer because of acute shortage of essentials including ration, LPG, kerosene, safe drinking water, the internal roads, health care and education.'' After meeting several delegations from different rural areas of Kashmir, the CPI (M) leader further alleged that most of the areas were steeped in darkness as the transformers did not function, electric polls and wires were worn out which is posing grave threat to the safety of common people. "The schools did not have adequate teaching staff or buildings, leading to adverse effect on the educational careers of innocent children," he said. He demanded early measures to provide basic amenities to the rural areas of the valley, which have been "utterly neglected" by the state administration. |
