| Azad to be rehabilitated in Centre | | Likely to get cabinet birth or key post in AICC | | Early Times Reporter

The Congress high command is planning to rehabilitate Ghulam Nabi Azad in the centre either by inducting him in the union cabinet or by assigning him a key post in the AICC.
Informed sources said that whether the Manmohan Singh led Government survives the floor test on July 22 the Congress high command, of later, has realized the importance of Azad in influencing the turn of events in favour of the Congress in the next Lok Sabha election.
Azad is said to be quite unhappy with the Central Government and the party high command over the way he was forced by circumstances to quit as Chief Minister .Had the party high command accepted his suggestion, the Government headed by him would have survived on the support of the National Conference.
Azad's importance at the Centre is gauged by the way more than 50 MPs belonging to different political parties had called on him at his residence in Delhi for knowing about the progress of his wife Shamim Dev Azad who had gone to Mumbai for treatment.
Ghulam Nabi Azad's caliber as a floor manager has been already tested and the Congress high command would try to utilize his services for influencing some fence sitters to vote for Manmohan Singh and later in the general elections. |
