| Ranji Trophy season begins from November | | | Early Times Reporter

As against four matches last year, Jammu and Kashmir have been `ignored’ by the North Zone Fixture Committee of the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) in making the state host for prestigious Ranji Trophy competitions for the coming season (2008-2009) starting from first week of November.
Last year, J&K enjoyed the privilege of hosting four of the five Ranji Trophy matches in Jammu. One game, against Services, was shifted to Punjab due to certain reasons.
“Likewise last year, BCCI has also decided to hold Twenty-20 competition in the month of March, the venues for which are yet to be decided by the fixture committee, a source within JKCA told SAN.
However, all the five one-day matches have been allotted to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) to be played at different venues in the month of February.
Important among three events in senior group, Ranji Trophy League phase of four-day matches, have been scheduled in the month of November and December.
In this Plate Group-A event, J&K has to play against Jharkhand, Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Kerela and Haryana. The first match between J&K and Jharkhand shall be played at Jamshedpur from November three to November six.
