Jammu | July 13
Complimenting the people of Jammu region for maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood despite provocations from the fundamentalists, RJD expressed the hope that the current crisis, that have resulted in total disharmony in the state, could be overcome through amicable and peaceful means.
Addressing jointly the media persons here today, Dharam Pal Kataria, Bakhtawar Malik and Mahewsh Padda, senior leaders of the party said, the current crisis resulting in the total disharmony in the state was a ‘bad patch’ in the history of the state which has never ever been divided on religious lines’. They said it was even worst to see that intellectuals and experienced leaders preferred to gain a political mileage out of the land controversy and regretted that ‘everyone tried to add fuel to the fire’. Even during the bad times of militancy, the Jammuties continued to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood; they remarked and asked ‘why we could not have patience now’. Is it that political masterminds have overpowered us due to their nefarious motives’? They questioned.
Maintaining that there is still hope of finding an amicable solution to the current crisis, the RJD leaders suggested the Governor should call a meeting of all heads of political and religious parties of both the regions for a common minimum solution to the crisis so that the issue is resolved.
Regretting that RJD, being the national party, has not been provided the facility of SPOs, these leaders demanded immediate deployment of SPOs to the party leaders so that they could carry on their activities in view of the ensuing assembly elections. They said that the probable candidates and even the block presidents and other office bearers of few political parties are enjoying the facility while the RJD leaders have been altogether ignored.
The party has also expressed gratitude of the national president of the women wing Saroj Dubey for elevating Gayatri Devi state president as national general secretary and appointing Meenakshi Gupta as national secretary and Susheela Devi as state president of the women wing.
Among others present on the occasion were Rakesh Mahajan, Devinder Kumar and district presidents from Udhampur and Kathua.
