| Soz fastens belt, gets feedback | | 'Congress to form next Govt at its own' | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 13 Wasting no time for the elections, the Pradesh Congress Committee chief and Union Minister for Water Resources Prof Saif-ud-Diz Soz has seems to have fastened his belts to gear up the cadres for once again bouncing the Congress back to power. Variously believed by many as an internal adversary of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, the way Soz played his during the political crisis of last one month underlines his deep commitment to the party's fortunes and organizational discipline. Now since after fall of government there is no reason to wait for the election announcement, Soz has actively plunged into the field to strengthen party and keep its cadre encouraged and confident. The PCC Chief who earlier today addressed a public meeting along with Azad in Akhnoor, today visited the residence of senior party leader and Gandhi Nagar's former MLA Raman Bhalla Raman Bhalla for a brief meeting. His visit to Bhalla's residence is seen as a gesture of morale booster for the party cadre. He is reported to have discussed the various matters regarding elections. During his visit at Bhalla's residence where some other select Congress leaders were also present, the PCC Chief got vital inputs on the prevailing situation on the ground. Sources said that Soz plans to meet the party leaders individually for getting feedback so as to design a poll strategy. Earlier, addressing a public meeting at Akhnoor, Soz said that Congress is the only party which has always stood with aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Recalling various historical incidents of past 50 years including installing of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah as Chief Minister in 1975 and handing over power to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in 2002, Soz said Congress does not have any lust for power. "We have seen enough of power…in Jammu and Kashmir our sole aim is welfare of the people", said the PCC Chief. Armed with facts and figures, the PCC Chief pointed out that no other party has carried out the development agenda for the people of Jammu region the way Congress has done. Admitting that Jammu region has been meted out with injustice and discrimination, Soz said that in past two and half years the government led Ghulam Nabi Azad has done enough work to balance the developmental lags of fice decades. Prof. Soz appealed the people to cast their vote in favour of Congress in forthcoming assembly elections and bring Congress government to power on its own in the state. He said that Congress is the only party which can fulfill the aspirations of the people in the country and ensure its all round progress. He said that Congress has always worked for strengthening brotherhood, amity and secular ethos. Regarding damaging of power transformer at Gladni, the Union Minister described the torching of power transformer as a planned conspiracy and condemned the elements that put people to great inconvenience in Jammu region. He said that the central government is taking keen interest to provide a new transformer on loan basis to relieve the people of unbearable difficulty especially in view of scorching heat. Responding to the demand for construction of a micro-hydel project at Kathar in Akhnoor, Prof. Soz asked for preparing a detailed project report for central funding on priority basis. He said that the central government is providing liberal funds to Jammu and Kashmir to complete infrastructure development projects expeditiously. |
