| APHC looks forward to purposeful Musharraf- Manmohan Singh meet | | | Srinagar, September 6 :-Leaders of a major separatist conglomerate, the All Party Hurriyat Conference look forward to the purposeful meeting between Pakistan President,Gen. Parvez Musharraf, and Prime Minister,Dr Manmohan Singh,in Hawana and later on the sidelines of the UN Assembly session. The APHC leaders wish for a "breakthrough" during the meeting so that the ongoing dialogue process, which has been moving at a snail's pace, was given a fillip. "There is no other option for India and Pakistan but to hold meaningful and sustained dialogue for finding a durable solution to the Kashmir problem,"said Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat,a senior APHC leader,in an interview with Kashmir Independent Press on Wednesday. He said "the existing political and security scenario in south Asia warranted Gen. Musharraf and Mr Manmohan Singh to find a way out which could ensure lasting peace in the region." Prof. Bhat said that it was for the heads of India and Pakistan to take measures so that the ghost of nuclear strike vanished. The APHC leader did not agree with those who believe that the bilateral talks have been suspended following recent serial blasts in Mumbai. He said "there are a number of dialogue channels running and it is not necessary that the talks be always held between Mr Manmohan Singh and Gen. Parvez Musharraf." Prof. Bhat said "I am convinced that if the negotiations between the two countries are allowed to run at a faster pace than experienced during the last over one year a solution to all problems can be found. It is,thus, inperative for Delhi and Islamabad to keep on talking with a dose of flexibility so that lasting peace is retored to the region." The Hurriyat leadership expressed its willingness to assist the two sides in finding a way out so that there was no feeling of defeat or victory among the leaders on either side of the LOC. Asked whether the APHC leadership was peeved over the long pause in the resumption of dialogue with the centre Prof. Bhat said "let the two giants draw close to each other and we will gladly get involved at a later stage.Since we are in favour of talks we are ready to engage ourselves in talks with Delhi."
