Excise Department arrests two persons, owner of Bar, Restaurant booked

Jammu, Mar 17: Continuing its drive against violations and Illicit liquor distillation, on the directions of Excise Commissioner, J&K, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, different teams laid Naka’s at different places and raided various locations.
The team conducted raid in Dansal area and booked one wine shop namely Rajni wine Shop for violation under the J&K Excise Act SVT 1958. During Naka at national Highway, Battal Ballian, Udhampur, one vehicle bearing No. JK06A5079 was found carrying iron goods without GST bill. The vehicle along with iron goods was handed over to State Taxes Enforcement wing Udhampur for further course of action.
Another team raiding at Rajouri-Poonch Excise Range laid down nakas on national Highway at Dalogra Rajouri and Poonch Mendhar Road and checked 88 vehicles for ascertaining any illegal movement of liquor and Drugs. In Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban the Excise Department patrolled in villages Manthla, Spota, Dasalla and Chakka and arrested two persons namely Pardeep Kumar and Santosh Kumar who were found in possession of two bottles each of illicit liquor. Both the accused were arrested and a case under the Excise Act was registered. 15 liters of Lahan was also recovered from State land and destroyed on spot. Pertinently in Kathua Range Nakas were laid on second consecutive day at Nagri, Goondh & Jaraie to Check the illegal smuggling of liquor/drugs.
During process about 60 cars were randomly checked. In Samba, premises of Moonlight Bar and Restaurant Bari Barhaman was checked and the licensee was booked for violation of license conditions.
Those who participated in day long operations included Virender Pawar, ETO Excise Range Rajouri-Poonch, Nagesh Sigh, ETO Excise Range North Jammu, Rupali Vaid, ETO Excise Range Udhampur-reasi, Virender Kumar ETO Excise Range Kathua, Suraj Parkash ETO Excise Range Samba alongwith Excise Inspectors Mohd Parvez, Mohd. Arif, Farroq Ahmad, Rahul Agstum, Raj Singh, Arun Kumar, Razi Ahamd and Renu Sharma.
