| Katra gets Rs 3.5 Crores for civics | | Governor visits Mata Vaishno Devi shrine | | Early Times Reporter Katra | July 14 Governor, Mr N.N Vohra, today announced a grant-in-aid of Rs. 3.50 crores, from out of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board funds for upgrading various civic amenities in Katra town, the base camp for the yatra. After visiting the Bhawan and praying for peace and tranquility in the State, the Governor said that as part of its social responsibility, the Board wants to contribute towards the development of the town. The Governor said that Rs. 1 crore each would be spent on the black-topping and improvement of existing Bus Stand in the town, leveling of the Sports Stadium and the new Bus Stand, besides improving the drinking water supply scheme for the town. He also directed CEO of the Shrine Board to release an amount of Rs. 50 lakh for renovation of the heritage site of the famous Reasi Fort after urgent consultation with INTACH who are engaged in preparation of a heritage conservation plan for the Fort. All these works would be taken up immediately and monitored by a committee headed by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Mr Sudhanshu Pandey and comprising Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, Mr. M. K Dwivedi and a technical team of the Shrine Board. The Governor also directed that the Master Plan for Katra town be reviewed so that all development efforts are made in line with a perspective plan for comprehensive development of the base camp for the holy yatra. Vohra also reviewed the arrangements made for the visiting pilgrims at various yatra points round the clock and took a round of the Bhawan Complex. The Governor was accompanied by Mrs Vohra and Principal Secretary to Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, Mr B. B Vyas, Additional CEO, Mr M. K Dwivedi, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Mr Sanjeev Verma and DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Alok Puri. |
