| BJP urges Jammu leaders to join 'movement of people' | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 16 Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today asked the Jammu based leaders of various political parties including Congress and National Conference (NC) to join the ongoing "agitation" and "movement of Jammu people" against the revocation of order transferring forest land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB). Addressing media persons here on Wednesday, BJP state president Ashok Khajuria warned that if the leaders of Congress, NC and other political parties did not join movement launched by the Jammu people, they would have to face public wrath and anger. He alleged, "It is a matter of shame that the Jammu-based Congress leaders like the Kashmir-based separatist's, are defending the Cabinet decision on July 1 taking back from the Shrine Board 800 kanals of land to show solidarity with Kashmiri fundamentalists." He also warned that if the revoked order was not cancelled at the earliest, the ongoing agitation would be intensified and "Jathas" (batches) of over 10,000 nationalist people from across the country would reach Jammu in coming months. He further informed, "For intensifying the struggle, the members of Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti and BJP activists would launch a chain-hunger strike in Jammu from July 20 to July 27." He, however, alleged that the way Governor N N Vohra is functioning was only "adding fuel in the fire" and asked Vohra to exercise absolute legislative and executive power Under Section 92 of Jammu and Kashmir Constitution for reversing the July 1 Cabinet decision regarding revocation of forest land transfer order. "BJP will continuously boycott Governor N N Vohra till the revoked land transfer order is cancelled," he maintained. |
