| One drowns in canal, police shirking responsibilities | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 16 One person drowned in the Ranbir canal here at Muthi area today. The victim identified as Shyam Lal s/o Dharam Chand r/o Ploura went to a funeral possession of his relative and on way he went to canal to wash face when suddenly he slipped and drowned. After the incident people who were on the spot started shouting while few dived in the canal but could not save him. The irrigation department was informed to stop the flow of water and after searching for four hours the body was recovered from the canal near Accountant General Office. Police officers from different police stations reached on the spot but none could shoulder responsibility. Every concerned police officer was found busy in shifting responsibility of registering case. Officers from Domana police station were of the view that since body was recovered near AG office therefore it was the responsibility of Bakshi Nagar police station to register case and investigate the matter and Bakshi Nagar police shifted responsibility on Talab Tillo police post and similar reaction came from Talab Tillo police station. |
