Had Baig misled Vohra on forest land?

Jammu | July 18
Governor,N.N.Vohra,seems to be upset over the way former Deputy Chief Minister,Muzaffar Hussain Baig, misled him on the diversion of forest land at Baltal and Domel to the Amarnath shrine Board.
Official sources said that Baig persuaded Vohra to send a communication to the Chief Minister,Ghulam Nabi Azad, conveying to him that the Board did not require any land after the state Government had assured him that it will take in hand all measures for ensuring better facilities for the pilgrims. And when Vohra wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on June 30 the Chief Minister convened a meeting of the cabinet where the decision to revoke the land diversion order was taken.Vohra who had taken over as Governor on June 25 was not fully aware of the impact the revocation of the order could have in Jammu.
Official sources said that the Governor feels he was  not given a sound suggestion by Baig whom he considered as a seasoned constitutional expert. These sources said that Baig had one main objective in giving his advice to Vohra. He had tought that in case the controversial order was revoked the PDP,which had pulled out of the Government on June 28,would be motivated to reconsider its decision and rejoin the Government. But the PDP leadership, sources said, preferred to cash on the revocation of the order to rejoining the Government.
Vohra is also upset over the way he had lost goodwill of people in the Jammu region.Sources close to him said that Vohra used to be respected and loved by people in Jammu before his appointment as Governor.Even when his name was cleared for the Governor's post many in Jammu had supported it. But like Jagmohan events, that  took place following the revocation of the order, cast a shadow on the performance of  Vohra who has decided to give impetus to development activities and to the clearance of cobwebs in the state administration.
