| Awareness Camp on NREGA at Reasi | | | Early Times Reporter

The Department of Rural Development organized a Block level Awareness cum Orientation Camp on NREGA for Monitoring and Vigilance Committee and Social Audit Forum members at Reasi today.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Mr. M.H. Bhatti was the Chief Guest while Assistant Commissioner Development, M L Raina presided over the function. Officers from various departments including Chief Horticulture Officer, Executive Engineer, RDD, District Social Welfare Officer, Block Development Officer Reasi and Pouni, SMS from Agriculture, AEE, RDD and large number of people participated in the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhatti said that the main objective of the scheme is to raise the socio-economic condition of people of rural areas by providing at least hundred days guaranteed wage employment in a financial year to every house hold whose adult members volunteers to do unskilled manual work. He asked the people to come forward in a collective manner and take maximum benefits from the schemes.
The Assistant Commissioner Development speaking on the occasion said that about Rs. 7 crores have been sanctioned by the central government for the implementation of NREGA in the Reasi district in the first instance. Most the job cards have also been issued and the concerned JEs and VLWs now have to play an important role in the implementation of this NREGA scheme at the ground level.
The Chief Horticulture Officer, AEE of RDD, SMS of Agriculture and BDO also spoke on the occasion and gave a detailed resume of the development activities to be started under the NREGA scheme. Detailed information about role of Monitoring and Vigilance committees during the on going development works under the programme were also discussed. |
