| DDC Samba reviews implementation of Annual Plan 2008-09 | | | Early Times Reporter Samba | July 18 District Development Commissioner Samba, Mr Saurabh Bhagat convened a meeting of district officers of various departments and reviewed the financial and physical progress of all sectors achieved upto end of June,2008. The DDC asked the officers to maintain regularity and punctuality in the offices as it of paramount importance for successful functioning of the government. The erring officer/officials will be punished severely according to the law/Civil Service Rule, he added. Reviewing the progress of agriculture sector, the DDC stresses upon the Chief Agriculture officer that expenditure level be increased by putting the annual plan 2008-09 into implementation so that farming community is benefited under subsidy on rain fed areas, incentives on seed village for procurement of seed, demonstration on cereals, pulses, oil seeds, vegetables etc being implemented in the district. The Chief Agriculture Officer, Samba apprised that paddy production has been raised to the level of 36,961 mt and productivity to 32.14 quintals per hectare in District Samba. Besides, the maize production has been increased to 17000 mt and its productivity to 23.11 quintal per hectare. The DDC directed the horticulture officers to expedite the implementation of approved horticulture activities in the district and ensure timely and proper utilization of funds released for the purpose. Under Animal/sheep Husbandry sectors, construction programme taken up against the release of Rs. 8 lakh shall be expedited and the funds released for purchase of drugs/medicines to the tune of Rs. 5 lakh be utilized so as to ensure sufficient stock of medicines available in the cattle/sheep development centres. It was disclosed that stocking of ponds with fisher lings of different species shall be completed by the end of August, 2008 and level of fish production would be raised to 45 mt. Under Forest/ Social Forestry sector, plantation of over 1.50 lakh saplings shall be completed by the end of August, 2008. Besides, raising of plants in the nurseries and free distribution of plants has already been taken up in hand. Under Handicrafts, Handlooms and Sericulture sectors, 16000 families in the district are being covered under supply subsidized ration by the CAPD. It was disclosed in the meeting that an amount of Rs. 1.20 crore shall be utilized for purchase of nutritional items in favour of 579 anganwadi centres where over 16000 children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and nursing mothers are enrolled. The meeting among others was attended Chief Planning Officer, Divisional Forest Officers, Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Director Employment, District Statistical and Evolution Officer and all other sectoral officers. |
