| Ex, Ex, Except Soz all Ex | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 18 Highly profile and power reflective prefixes and titles added before names make every one happy. For example “Honourable Minister for Health and Medical Education Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma” in any case sounds better than simple “Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma. Worse it sounds when the long line of honour and power in the prefix to a name is replaced by a half word ‘Ex’. In the good and not so old days, when the Congress party had any convention, the official press release would first carry the name of Chief Minister or the Union Minister for Water Resources, followed by Cabinet Ministers, then Ministers of States, then Members of Parliament, then MLAs and then MLCs. Politics changes it all overnight. The list is same but with few exceptions of first two dignitaries it is now in the reverse order. The Members of Parliament –Madan Lal Sharma and Chowdhary Lal Singh –who would almost get ignored now add life to the Congress press note. The Members of the Legislative Council who would be relegated to the oblivion now make beginning of the sentence carrying names of those attended any particular meeting. The Union Minister for Water Resources Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz today chaired a Congress convention here. Among those attended the meeting, the majority was from the ‘Ex’ category. Therefore, if the protocol is taken care of, the people like Preduman Singh, Lal Mohammad Sabir come first and then the top heavyweights like Pandit Mangat Ram Sharma and Mula Ram etc. The ‘30-day Minister’ BR Kundal, who would have enjoyed sweeping powers under the Governor’s rule if was not attracted to the political power, now finds his name after anyone else in the list. Therefore, a middle part of list goes like this, Ex MLA Jammu West and Ex Health Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, Ex MLA Raipur Domana and Ex Minister for Rural Development Mula Ram, Ex Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation BR Kundal. No wonder that, besides MLCs and MPs, Soz is an exception from the ‘Ex factor’ |
