| Snatched SLR recovered in Kulgam | | | Early Times Reporter
Srinagar | July 20
People of Gunde Chahal in Kulgam overpowered a gang of extortionists and apprehended one of them and handed him over to Police Post Frisal of district Kulgam. The culprit was identified as Mohammad Hussain Ganie, son of Mohammad Akbar, resident of Chadder Kulgam, who had earlier been detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) for militant activities. On his instance Police recovered one SLR from an orchard in Gund Chahal and apprehended his another accomplice namely Irshad Ahmad Bhat, son of Ramzan Bhat, resident of Gund Chahal while as third person namely Jehangir Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Shirpora who initially gave slip to police was also arrested. He was also involved in militancy related activities and had remained detained under PSA during year 2006-2007. Hussain and Jehangir were involved in two different FIRs of district Kulgam. The duo had remained earlier associated with HM and the SLR which was recovered was snatched from a residential guard of Mohammad Ramzan Itoo of Mujmarg Shopian on 15.06.06. One Constable had been injured during that incident. A case FIR No. 40/08 under section 7/25 Arms Act of Police Station Yaripora stands registered, investigation of case is going on. Police has lauded the role of the people in helping to bust the gang of extortionists and subversive elements. |
