NC’s double talk won’t befool people: Khan
7/20/2008 11:01:40 PM
Early Times Reporter
Jammu | July 20
Sharply reacting to the NC Kashmir Province President’s assertions yesterday, the PDP general secretary Murtaza Khan said that it has been the history of the NC to befool the people for its electoral gains.
He said as the elections approach nearer, the NC starts changing its colours like chameleons and resort to double speak. Its usual rhetoric Kashmir’s being India’s ‘atootang’ disappears from the NC’s sloganeering course and expressions like ‘Kashmir issue in cold storage’, ‘resolution of Kashmir issue’, ‘talks with Hurriyat’, etc start pouncing to target the vulnerable minds of the voters”
He said Mehboob Beg needs to remind himself that expression like ‘Simla Agreement’, ‘Tashkent Agreement’ ‘taking the people of Kashmir into confidence for solving the issue’ etc. used by him are not compatible with the stand of National Conference that has been propagating attacks on Pak and catching and killing the Kashmiri youth as potential militants”. How could National Conference leaders impress upon the Government of India to hold parlays with the Hurriyat when they (NC) themselves boycotted the meetings of the PM’s Working Groups on Kashmir”, he asked? The double speaks of the National Conference close to the elections, Khan said, is not surprising but this time this strategy will not come to NC’s rescue as the people have not yet forgotten the deep wounds inflicted on their souls and bodies by the National Conference. “They still remember the brunt of draconian laws like POTA and excesses of the NC’s Task Force. People of the State who had experienced worst kind of corruption and nepotism during National Conference regime haeaved a sigh of relief during Mufti Sayeed’s time as Chief Minister and shall not fall prey to the double speak of the NC anymore to push the State back to anarchy” Khan claimed.
