10 arrested for attending Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist's funeral; police launch manhunt for other attendees
4/10/2020 1:36:15 PM
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested 10 people for attending the funeral of a Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist, who was recently killed in a police encounter. The police have launched an investigation to identify more attendees of the funeral.

Earlier on Wednesday, JeM commander Sajad Nawab Dar was killed in an encounter with security forces in North Kashmir's Sopore.J&K Police recovered one AK 47 rifle, 3 magazines and 59 rounds from his hideout.

Dar's encounter, however, turned into a big headache for local administration as hundreds of people turned up for his funeral in Sopore the next day despite the ongoing lockdown.

According to reports, over four hundred people gathered outside the JeM terrorist's residence even though there are strict orders against the assembly of people due to the ongoing lockdown.

Following the incident, the police registered FIR against unknown persons for violating the lockdown protocols and government directives regarding social gathering.

Reportedly, Dar's family had given assurances in writing that they will adhere to social distancing when the body was handed over to them after completing the formalities.
