| Police gunned down three militants | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | July 21 Three militants were killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said here today. The encounter took place late last night at Nagbal village in Ganderbal district when militants opened fire on a security patrol on Srinagar-Leh national highway, they said, adding two ultras were killed in the ensuing battle. The militants have been identified as Sageer Ahmad Shah and Abid Ahmad Khan, both residents of Rampur village of Sopore. Whereas, a militant of Hizbul Mujahideen identified as Abdul Ahad Mir was killed in a separate encounter by security forces during a search operations at Wuddar village of Kupwara district last night. Meanwhile, ultras yesterday made an abortive attempt to target a police station with a grenade in Baramulla district, officials said. Militants had hurled a hand grenade towards Dangiwacha police station in North Kashmir Baramulla district, that fell short of the target and exploded on the roadside without causing any casualty or damage, they added. While, residents of Nagbal village today observed a complete shut down to protest "fake encounter" by the security forces. |
