| Samiti hunger strike enters day 2 | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 21 Demanding removal of Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and return of land to SASB, chain strike started by Shri Amarnath Sangrash Samiti today entered its second day. Over 800 activists carrying black flags and raising slogans headed by SASS chairman Leela Karan Sharma sat on a dharna for second consecutive day today at Bhrahman Sahib headquarters. SASS, a conglomeration of 35 outfits, is the nodal agency for Amarnath agitation in Jammu region. "We have launched chain hunger strike in Jammu and other district headquarters of Jammu region to press for removal of Vohra and restoration of land to SASB," Leela Karan said. The strike, which was started yesterday, would conclude on July 27 across the region, he said. Sangrash Samiti units in Udhampur, Kathua, Samba and Katra belts of Jammu region started chain hunger strikes from today. They hoisted black flags and raised slogans and also burnt their effigies. He asked all political parties, social and religious organisations besides people to support the hunger strike. They also took out torch light processions in Bari Brahamana, Gangyal and Muthi areas of the city. |
