| BJP asks tourists not to visit Kashmir in view of attack | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | July 21 BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit today advised tourists from different parts of the country not to visit Kashmir valley in view of continuing attack on pilgrims visiting Amarnath. "As a responsible party, we will not advise tourists to visit Kashmir valley in view of attacks taking place on Amarnath pilgrims," leaders of BJP unit said here. The former state BJP president and member of national executive, Nirmal Singh said that "one pilgrim died in a grenade attack in Gulmarg yesterday and others escaped when anti-national elements hurled grenade on their vehicle at Ganderbal while they were returning to Srinagar from Baltal." Similarly, several pilgrims, including women, were injured when some anti-national elements pelted stones on their vehicles at Banihal earlier, he said. "The continuous attacks on pilgrims in valley would affect tourism inflow in Kashmir and it is not a good sign for the state," BJP's state vice president and spokesperson Hari Om said. Charging Kashmiri leaders, including those belonging to Hurriyat Conference, for their assurance on ensuring smooth Amarnath yatra, he said "If they stand by their words to be good hosts for visiting pilgrims, then they should have come out and protested against these attacks." The BJP leaders also blamed the authorities for their failure to provide safety and security to the visiting pilgrims in the valley. |
