| Sixth scientific advisory meet held at Leh | | | Early Times Reporter Leh | July 21 The chief executive councilor LAHDC Chhering Dorjey while presiding over the meeting of sixth scientific advisory meet appreciated the suggestion and tips given by the scientists to the officers of agriculture, horticulture animal and sheep husbandry and to progressive formers about the productivity and production of major crops cultivated on the district. While addressing the meeting CEO welcomed the scientists headed by Prof. Anwar Alam vice chancellor by SKUAST to Leh. He said that unless the new experiments are accepted by farmers with good result the experiments ate limited to the laboratories. He urged the scientists to work on water harvesting, water conservation with the context pf Ladakh region to challenge water crises because of global warming in the feature as Ladakh region is experiencing quick glacier to melting since last 10 years. Dorhey also urged the scientists to excrement on how to increase the per goat pashmina wool in Changthang and to experiment on small plants which can grow in high altitude areas of Changthang and which needs less water. Vice chancellor, Prof. Alam assured the meeting that the Sher-e-Kashmir university will give its all-possible assistance to the to the departments to improve economic condition of Ladakhi farmer and to implement new experiments in Ladakh. Earlier, Dr. Tundup Tsewang scientist inchare, RARS/KVK gave a detail slideshow presentation of action plan 2008-9 and 2009-10 to the house. ADC, Sonam Gyaltson also spoke on the occasion. |
