| Dir Horti meet officers | | | Early Times Reporter Ramban | July 21 To promote horticulture in the district, in view of excellent agro-climate conditions suitable for fruit cultivation various points were discussed in a horticulture officers meet chaired by director horticulture J.L Sharma here today. The progress of various development schemes presently in operation in that district were reviewed in the meting. Sharma directed all the field officers to take necessary measures to censure proper implements of departmental schemes so that the poor farmers can take the benefits of the schemes for the betterment of forming community, said on the occasion. The chief Horticulture officer, Ramban H.S. Broca said that 175 Ha. and 82 Ha area is being brought under fruit plantation under technology mission and district plan schemes respectively during 2008-09 in Ramban district. He further informed that 5 Ha area is being brought under Drip irrigation and 600 sq.mt area under low cost ploy green house under technology mission in the district during 2008-09. More than 19 farmer’s awareness camps shall be organized under the technology mission during current year. Director also laid stress upon the officers to organize farmer’s awareness camps/seminars more frequently to educate the farmers regarding various schemes and to transfer latest technology to the farmers enabling them to better returns from their produce. Director inspected advanced centre for Horticulture development Govindpora Ramban and reviewed the developmental activities going on at the farm for development of horticulture in Jammu division. |
